The Enemies (also known as Monsters, Reborn or Infected) are the main threats of the entire Slendytubbies series. They are infected Teletubbies for the most part, but also include Artificial Intelligence and ghostly creatures.
Slendytubbies II is the first game to introduce multiple enemies. Starting off with Tinky Winky, who was the sole enemy of the first and previous game, and the series’ first original creatures known as New Borns, the game later added mutated forms of previously-deceased characters. Slendytubbies 2D adopted a similar approach, adding additional original characters.
Behaviour[]
Enemies behave differently in each game, but behaviours are still similar in many ways. In particular, three patterns of behaviour were observed throughout the games.
Unknown Name The designation given to the subject of this article is conjectural. It will be used until an official name is given. |
Trackers[]
This behaviour was already apparent in the very first game with Tinky Winky. The pattern is simple; the enemy constantly pursues the player and always knows exactly where they are currently located.
Each time the player takes a Tubby Custard in the first game, Tinky Winky speeds up and always ends up standing behind the player. One detail that won’t be used on the rest of the series, is that Tinky Winky can only kill the player by visual contact. In subsequent games, this classic version of Tinky Winky will just pursue the player and kill them by physical contact.
This behaviour is also exhibited in Slendytubbies 2D by half of the enemies. Similar to the classic version of Tinky Winky, they constantly hunt the player, and move faster once they reach a certain radius. This faster speed can be twice as fast or even more, depending on the individuals. When there's only one Tubby Custard left, they move continuously at that faster speed.
In Slendytubbies III, the enemies from the Reborn Army, encountered in the Survival and Sandbox modes, permanently know where the players are and will seek to attack them with a melee or ranged attack.
In Slendytubbies: Worlds, this behaviour is displayed by New Borns in Open World mode during an invasion, or by the location's main threat when they appear. It is also displayed once in Collect mode, by the Runner Newborn patrolling the Research Lab.
Stalkers[]
In Slendytubbies 2D, a different behaviour is exhibited by the other half of the enemies. Similar to Trackers, they constantly follow the player. However, they are unnoticeable when they move and are only exposed when the player looks in their direction, which at the same time will cause them to remain motionless. If the player looks in their direction several times consecutively, they may temporarily disappear before returning. They also pass through obstacles.
Searchers[]
This behaviour made its debut in Slendytubbies II. The enemies move around the map while passively guarding the custard nearest to the player.
It is exhibited by all enemies in Slendytubbies II, except for the classic version of Tinky Winky. They automatically spot the player if they enter a defined radius around them, no matter which direction they are looking or if they are standing behind an obstacle. They will then chase the player for the rest of the game and attempt to attack them within close range, although the player may also die upon collision with their hit box.
In Slendytubbies III, all of the enemies in Collect mode have this behaviour. Rather than standing in front of the custard, they will patrol around it. They can spot the player when they get into their field of vision, or when the player gets too close to their back or sides. They will then pursue the player until they lose interest, and will try to kill with an attack whose speed depends on the individuals.
In Slendytubbies: Worlds, all of the enemies in Collect mode have this behaviour, except for the Runner Newborn in Research Lab. Just as in the previous game, they can spot the player when they get into their field of vision, or when the player gets too close. They will then chase the player for a period that can last from a few seconds to around a minute. They repeat their pattern by teleporting to a random Tubby Custard after giving up or killing a player.
