The Main Land (originally known as Teletubby Land) is the main location within the Slendytubbies franchise.

It serves as the home of the four main teletubbies: Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po. It is described to be a natural experimental surface that is monitored by a fifth teletubby known as The Guardian[1].

The original Teletubby Land from the Teletubbies series is composed of hills inhabited by rabbits, bushes, trees and colourful flowers. A windmill known as the “Magic Windmill” is located beyond several hills, and speakers called “Voice Trumpets” can rise out of the ground.

In the Slendytubbies series, the land is very different, having a wilder valley-like setting linked to the sea and surrounded by mountains. A secret facility is situated in the underground of the land, accessible from a hidden passage under a large rock[2]. As shown in Slendytubbies III, the Main Land is linked to the Mountains and the Cave[2]. It is later shown in Slendytubbies: Worlds that the beach side is linked to the Lake.

Appearances[]

Slendytubbies[]

The Main Land is the only available location in the first game and its remake. It can be played during three different periods of the day: day, dusk, and night. The only difference between these periods is the aesthetical “level of scariness”.

Ten tubby custards are located around the land. By moving through the landscape, it is possible to find the corpses of those killed by Tinky Winky ― Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po ― who is constantly pursuing the player to stop them from collecting all custards. In the original game, trees can collapse when the player approaches them, although this is not dangerous.

Slendytubbies II[]

The Main Land returns in Slendytubbies II. There's more grass and vegetation and parts of it are flooded, giving it the appearance of a marsh. It can be played on a misty day or a stormy night, and is roamed by Tinky Winky in a different, more monstrous form nicknamed Tinky Tank. The bodies of Tinky Winky's victims are still where they were in Slendytubbies, but Noo-Noo is nowhere to be found.

The location was available since the release of the game, along with the newly-introduced Secret Lair. Throughout game updates, the Main Land has been given a Minecraft variant known as TubbyCraft, and the original design from the previous game; “Slendytubbies (Classic)”.

Since Update V2.2, both day and night periods have been ported to Slendytubbies III, under a ST2 section.

Slendytubbies 2D[]

The Main Land makes a comeback in Slendytubbies 2D. Unlike other games in the series, nighttime is the only available time period. Since Update V1.5, the Main Land has been divided into two different versions; the classic one, inhabited by Tinky Winky under his first mutation, and an “ST3 Edition”, inhabited by his second mutation.

Slendytubbies III[]

The Main Land reappears in Slendytubbies III in both Campaign and Multiplayer.

Campaign[]

The Main Land is the main setting of Chapter 0 ― “It Was Good”. Starting on the beach where a dialogue between Po and Noo Noo begins, the rest of the chapter is held around the house. The introductory scene reveals that there are rabbits living on the land alongside Teletubbies. During the night, Po heads to the beach looking for Tinky Winky, with the possibility of awakening Laa-Laa.

The second part of Chapter 1 ― “A New Day” consists of exploring some of the land's notable areas in search for custards, while avoiding Tinky Winky who wanders near each chosen area. The chapter ends with a chase sequence where the player must choose between the Cave and the Mountains.

Multiplayer[]

The Main Land can be played during three different time periods. In the Collect and Versus modes, the location is roamed by Tinky Winky during the day and at dusk, and roamed by Tinky Tank during the night only. It is also available in the other modes: Survival, Infection, and Sandbox.

Slendytubbies: Worlds[]

The Main Land reappears in Slendytubbies: Worlds with, unlike other games in the series, daytime as the only available time period. The player can find a total amount of 6 hats ; Joker Hat, Horn Hat, Football Helmet, Bull Hat, Bunny Mask, and Little Horn Hat.

In Open World mode, the location can be reached from the Mountains, the Cave or by fast travel with an Helicopter, and provides access to the Secret Lair and the Lake. In Collect and Versus modes, the location is roamed by Tinky Tank, who also has a chance to momentarily appear in Open World.

Trivia[]

Slendytubbies[]

  • The background ambience was made by Sean Toman[3].
  • An easter egg can be found in the mountains behind the player’s starting location. It is a Voice Trumpet playing a cover of the song What’s Up by 4 Non Blondes.
  • Originally, the beach was called “the river”.

Slendytubbies II[]

  • An easter egg can be found in the mountains during the day, and on the beach rocks during the night. It is a model of Rick Astley, dancing to his song Never Gonna Give You Up.

Slendytubbies 2D[]

  • Dipsy and Noo-noo are not featured in the house. However, an unused sprite of Dipsy's corpse can be found in the game files.
  • Main Land (ST3 Edition) is one of the locations added in an update — the others are Outskirts and Lake.

Slendytubbies III[]

  • In Campaign, a minor character named Unit 437 states that its master ran away from the Main Land[4]. The latter was formerly an experiment subject as revealed by notes found in the Cave. This implies that the Main Quartet may have had predecessors, or that there is another experiment surface in an unseen part of the Main Land.
  • In previous versions of the game, locations that were available at daytime or nighttime were divided into two different maps. The time period was later changed to be an option.
  • In Multiplayer, Laa-Laa's body is not lying on the beach, suggesting that Po has not decided to wake her up.

Slendytubbies: Worlds[]

  • The setting is very close to the location's daytime in the second game.
