The Cave (originally known as Teletubby Cave) is a recurring location within the Slendytubbies series. It is located under the mountain between the west of the Main Land[1] and the east of the Outskirts[2].

It does not have many remarkable features other than a maze-like layout made up of tunnels with junctions, slopes, and occasionally roomier spaces.

Appearances[]

Slendytubbies 2D[]

The Cave makes its first appearance in Slendytubbies 2D. It is set up as a maze-like location with three possible entrances ― the left one leading to a dead-end. It is roamed by the Cave Tubby. The spawn-point is protected by red lasers preventing the Cave Tubby from entering it.

Slendytubbies III[]

The Cave returns in Slendytubbies III, in both Campaign and Multiplayer.

Campaign[]

The Cave is one of the two possible locations that can be travelled by The Guardian in the first half of Chapter 2 ― “The Journey”. The choice is made during the last part of the preceding chapter; the escape from the Main Land.

The Guardian needs to reach the other end of the Cave to reach the Outskirts, but as he is finding notes dropped on the ground, he is suddenly chased by a large brown creature, but manage to escape it after jumping over a pit filled with rocky spikes. The following path is full of dead ends, junctions, and deep pits that must be avoided.

At the end of the Cave, the Cave Tubby blocks the exit, and the Guardian must find an alternative way out as the monster chases after him in a Quick Time Events sequence. Finally, the Guardian makes it out into a crevice in the Outskirts.

Multiplayer[]

In Collect and Versus modes, the Cave is roamed by the Cave Tubby. It is significantly smaller than in Campaign, and does not have deadly pits. Some parts of the cave can still be recognized thanks to glowing crystals and wooden doorways leading to more spacious areas.

Slendytubbies: Worlds[]

The Cave reappears in Slendytubbies: Worlds with the same layout as in Slendytubbies 2D. The player can find a total amount of 3 hats ; Fedora, Fez, and Witch Hat.

In Open World mode, the location can be reached from the Outskirts, the Main Land, or by fast travel with an Helicopter. In Collect and Versus modes, the location is roamed by the Cave Tubby, who also has a chance to momentarily appear in Open World.

Trivia[]

Slendytubbies 2D

  • The layout is similar to the Training Maze.
  • The ambience is made up of samples coming from the tracks Witch Doctor and Sinister by Zero-G.
  • The lasers weren’t present in older versions.

Slendytubbies III

  • One of the notes found in the Cave depicts three teletubbies; the Cave Tubby, the Yeti Tubby, and the Arrow Tubby — before being infected. They can be identified by their respective antenna and colour.
  • In the Multiplayer version of the map, the walls around the closed wooden door have no collision. Going through these walls will result in the player falling into a death barrier, or to fall indefinitely if the player is playing as a monster.
    • It is unknown why death barriers were added beneath the area instead of adding regular walls to prevent players from falling out of the map.
