— Tinky Winky, Slendytubbies III.

Tinky Winky is a major character of the Slendytubbies series and one of its primary antagonists when infected.

Tinky Winky was an experiment subject along with his friends — Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po. He was tested in a futuristic house within a wild surface known as the Main Land and, just like his housemates, was not aware of his situation[1]. One day, the purple teletubby ate a Tubby Custard together with his friends, but the custard he consumed caused him to have an unusual behaviour during the night. After becoming a monster, he brutally massacred his friends one by one.

Physical Appearance

Tinky Winky is similar to his counterpart from the Teletubbies series; he is a humanoid covered in purple fur featuring a reverse triangle-shaped antenna on the top of his head. His face, including the inside of his large ears, are depicted to have Caucasian skin.

When he is infected, his silhouette is globally the same, the only changes being visible on his face — pale and human-like with soulless eyes, a dark bluish tongue, and a teethed wide-open mouth.

In his second mutation, Tinky Winky is a massive being displaying muscular arms of such length that they lift him when he moves. The rest of his anatomy is smaller and less-developed compared to his arms. In Slendytubbies III, his skin has scars on some areas along with his face being pictured differently in many ways: an open and serrated mouth of sharp teeth, as well as two abnormally pigmented eyes, the one on the left being white and the one on the right red.

Personality

As seen in the original television series, Tinky Winky is described as being kind, gentle, and less eloquent than his friends. He often hangs out with a red handbag, his favorite item, and seems to display a rather feminine side. Po talks about Tinky Winky as her best friend[2].

In Slendytubbies, Tinky Winky displays a similar personality, with possibly the addition of being gluttonous or impatient. Once infected, he does not seem to have any personality traits besides the brutality in the way of massacring his friends.

Appearances

Slendytubbies

Tinky Winky is the sole antagonist of the very first game. He spawns a few meters near of the Tubbytronic Superdome and completely on Versus Spawn in the Tubbytronic Superdome, constantly chases the player. He shouts loudly when the player looks at him, but only kills the latter if they view the former long enough. Whenever a custard is picked up, he will increase his speed until he finally catches up to the player and stays behind them for the rest of the playthrough. Tinky Winky is so focused that if the player moves backwards, he will as well.

Slendytubbies II

Come out, come out wherever you are.

— Tinky Tank.

Tinky Winky returns in Slendytubbies II as the main and titular antagonist. He makes several appearances through several shapes, appearing mainly in his second mutation, nicknamed Tinky Tank.

He appears with his original design — from the first and previous game — as the danger of “Slendytubbies (Classic)”. Like the prequel, Tinky Winky relentlessly chases the player from the start and emits a loud scream if close to the protagonist. He will instantly kill the player through physical as opposed to visual contact. This behaviour is later reused in Slendytubbies: Anniversary Edition.

In his second mutation, Tinky Tank can be encountered in Teletubby Land during either day or night. Like other threats, Tinky Tank moves to the custard closest to the player and guards it until the player moves to another custard. At a certain radius that ignores obstacles, Tinky Tank will scream and start chasing the player for the rest of the game. He will try to hit the protagonist with a heavy punch if they stand beside him. Tinky Tank locates the player from a greater radius than other enemies, and runs faster than the latter — demanding to always move to avoid being attacked.

Tinky Winky also appears with a Minecraft form as the danger of TubbyCraft. He shares the same behaviour as other enemies, but will instantly kill the player through physical contact like his classic self.

Slendytubbies 2D

Tinky Winky makes a comeback in Slendytubbies 2D. He appears as the threat of Main Land. Since Update V1.5, he also appears as Tinky Tank in Main Land (S3 Edition).

Like several other enemies, Tinky Winky (in both forms) constantly stalks the player from the beginning of the game, but poses no danger as long as he stays away. Invisible, his current position is revealed by the player's flashlight, which forces him to stay still. Once they gets too close, he will start chasing the player until a certain distance separates them.

In Versus mode, the host of the game plays as Tinky Winky or Tinky Tank in their respective version of Main Land.

Slendytubbies III

Tinky Winky reappears in Slendytubbies III in both Campaign and Multiplayer.

Campaign

Chapter 0 — “It Was Good”

Tinky Winky was waiting for Po to come back at the house; therefore, asking her to make some custards for everyone. All were served after the machine was repaired by Po.

About ten hours later — during the late hours — Tinky Winky woke up, destroyed the Tubby Custard Machine, and left the house. While Po explores the land to find her purple friend, the latter returned home to slaughter Dipsy. If the player chooses to wake Laa-Laa before beginning to explore the land, Laa-Laa will be found dead, lying on the beach.

Tinky Winky, responsible for the murders, will reveal his pale screaming face to Po, henceforward chasing her over a long distance before catching her at the base of the tree where she will be later found hanging.

Chapter 1 — “A New Day”

Tinky Winky is the danger during the second half of Chapter 1. While The Guardian is searching for custards in the Main Land, Tinky Winky will patrols near the custards they are looking for, except for the “last known location of Po”. Entering his field of view while he is on patrol will be a fatal encounter for the player.

Once the Guardian picks up the second-to-last custard, Tinky Winky will stand in front of the last custard. As the storm begins to thunder and the custard emits an unusual glow, Tinky Winky absorbs the substance and transforms into a huge, muscular monster as the Guardian watches. A chase sequence follows where the player must choose between the Cave or the Mountains. If the player does not set foot in either one of the options in time, Tinky Tank will outright smash the protagonist.

Chapter 3 — “Run Away”

In this chapter only, Tinky Winky makes an appearance as a hallucination experienced by the Guardian.

Multiplayer

In the Collect and Versus modes, Tinky Winky makes several appearances through multiple variations of Main Land; he appears under his first mutation during the day and dusk, under his second mutation during the night, and with his classic design in Slendytubbies (Classic).

Like other enemies, Tinky Winky moves to the custard closest that is nearest to the player and patrols around until the player moves to another custard. He notices the player either by the latter being in his field of vision, or by close proximity. Tinky Winky will scream and start chasing the player until a certain distance separates them. He will try to hit the protagonist with a punch if they stand beside him, killing every player within range. Both mutations pose little threat due to the spacious nature of the land, and his slow attack speed.

Tinky Winky appears in Survival mode as the boss of Main Land (Day/Dusk), Slendytubbies (Classic), and Mountain Lair, where he can use two special abilities named “Lightning Shot” and “Lightning Blast”. Tinky Tank appears as the boss of Main Land (Night), where he can use two special abilities named “Lightning Shot” and “Lightning Storm”.

For more detailed information, see his Survival profile.

Tinky Winky appears in Sandbox mode as an available enemy, ally, and a playable character. His classic self is also playable.

For more detailed information, see Sandbox.

Slendytubbies: Worlds

In the Collect and Versus modes, Tinky Tank appears as the danger in the Main Land. Like other enemies, he guards nearby custards and notices the player either by the latter being in his field of vision, or by close proximity. He will scream and start chasing the player for a random period of time ranging from a few seconds to about a minute, then teleport to a random custard after giving up the chase, or killing a player. He runs a bit faster than the player, which generally results in certain death.

Tinky Tank may also appear in Open World mode when the player is exploring the Main Land. He moves towards one player and has the ability to teleport to a nearby location. He will execute a physical attack when close, and can use a thunder-based special ability when distant. He disappears after some time.

Tinky Tank also appears in Sandbox mode as an available enemy, ally, and a playable character.

Trivia

General

  • Tinky Winky is one of the four characters who can have multiple mutations — the others being Dipsy, Po, and The Guardian.
  • The origins of Tinky Winky’s face lead to a photograph of a Halloween Scarecrow[3]. The source of the image is from Gemmy Industries, also called “Ghastly Ghoul Light-Up Groundbreaker”.
  • The genesis of Tinky Winky’s scream guide to a video titled “SOUND EFFECT DERANGED WOMAN SCREAM”[4] by a user named “baniger3711”.

Slendytubbies

  • In an old Alpha verison of the game, Tinky Winky's face was his normal uninfected phase, until he screams at the player, where it changes to the pale one during the attack - reverting after.
    • This was removed in later versions for unknown reasons.
    • This explains the launch screen of the game (taken in the old version) where Tinky Winky's face is in perfect condition.
    • In the final builds of the game, there are leftover textures and code for the said action, but it is not activated anywhere.

Slendytubbies II

  • Tinky Tank uses the base model and animations from the “Dante Beast” in FPS Creator.
    • The design seems to be based on the Tank creature from the Left 4 Dead series.
  • His screech is the same as in the first game, slowed down and deeper.
  • His growls are actually warnings sent to the player.
    • Tinky Winky, the Yeti Tubby, and Dipsy are the only infected Teletubbies who were shown to be capable of speech.
    • Voiced by Sean Toman himself[5].

Slendytubbies 2D

  • His body is notably similar to that of Ao Oni's.
  • Tinky Tank is one of the enemies added in an update — the others are Laa-Laa, Lake Dipsy, and Spider Po.
    • They all have their design from Slendytubbies III.

Slendytubbies III

  • It was the first time in a 3D game for Tinky Winky to be seen moving under his first mutation rather than being immobile.[6] Nevertheless, he remains static in the DEMO.
  • As heard in the final promo, Tinky Winky is counting. In the final game, he is counting while chasing Po. The meaning of it remains unknown.
    • He seems to count in the following order; “1, 3, 2… 3… 2, 1”.
  • Like characters in physical conditions that are considered to be "pre-mutations" or "early phases", Tinky Winky and the Guardian both have a simplistic design. They share the same animation too.
  • Tinky Tank is the biggest Teletubby in the game. He also has the strongest melee hit.
  • Tinky Winky is the default enemy for the Blue Room, as the map does not have an assigned threat.
  • Tinky Winky is the only character among the four who does not die or have an option to kill him in the main campaign.
  • He is the only infected among the four to not have his body covered in blood.
  • When looked inside Tinky Tank's head via playing as a camera, his original face from Slendytubbies II can be seen inside.

Slendytubbies Worlds

  • As in the second game, Tinky Tank appears in Main Land during the day, and runs faster than the player.
