Survival is a gamemode available in Slendytubbies III. The statistics of the enemies are re-used in the Sandbox Mode.

It can either be chosen to be played in Singleplayer or Multiplayer. Multiplayer allows for more players to work together to fight off enemies, but will increase the amount of enemies and the health of bosses.

Description

The goal of the Survival mode is to fend against multiples waves of enemies without dying.

At the beginning of each waves, a "Drop Zone" will be randomly located at various places of the map. At the end of each waves, a Supply Helicopter will appear or a Supply Box (in indoor or narrow maps) will open on the "Drop Zone" and allow the player to buy or sell weapons, regenerate health, and purchase ammunition, all with Tubby Toasts earned by shooting enemies.

If the player dies in a wave, they will respawn after the wave ends, but without all of the weapons and Tubby Toasts they had before. If all of the players die in a wave, the game is over.

When spawning, either after death, joining a Survival game, or starting a Survival game, the player will begin with 200 Tubby Toasts, an XIX pistol, and a knife.

Additionally, as of the v1.21 update, there are multiple difficulties. As of v1.27, there are four difficulties to choose from: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Impossible. The only difference between the modes are the amounts of damage that are dealt by the enemies and bosses. In Easy mode, enemies deal base damage. In Normal, enemies deal double damage. In Hard, enemies deal quadruple damage, usually killing players in two hits. In Impossible, enemies deal octuple damage, with every attack killing instantly, save for light splash damage for rockets and projectile attacks from bosses.

Note: The amount of enemies that appear in the wave depend on the amount of players in the game, increasing by about 66% per extra player, up to a total of an additional 200%. The value used here is the amount of enemies when only one player is present. Additionally, bosses gain more health when more players are alive.

The Survival Mode has various enemies that the player have to fend against. The Infected Army is mostly composed of New Borns variants, but also includes various Droids. The base damage for most enemies is 16.

Generic New Borns

The Generic New Borns are the most common and weakest of the different enemies. They walk slowly towards the player and attack them with a headbutt. They are pretty easy to kill because of their low health and speed, but their massive number still can makes them dangerous.

They are pale light brown teletubbies with empty eyes, a wrinkled face and no arms or fur.

Trivia

  • They are the only ones from the army to be seen in Campaign, more precisely during Chapter 1 - A New Day and Chapter 3 - Run Away
  • They have the same appearance than the Usual Duo from Secret Lair but they have different animations, which makes them distinguishable.


Runner New Borns

The Runner New Borns are ones of the most common enemies behind the Generic New Borns. They trot towards the player with a faster speed and attack them with their machete. They are a bit tougher than the Generic New Borns, and can sneak up on the player with their speed.

They looks like the Generic New Borns but they wear a jaw mask and have a machete-arm on their left. Their body is also covered in dark blood.

Trivia

  • Their animations are the same as the Generic New Borns.
  • They are the playable characters of the Infection Mode.
    • On this mode, they have the same animations than the Usual Duo from Secret Lair.
    • They deal 80 damage per hit in this mode, which is equivalent to five times their base damage.
    • This makes them and the Mini-Announcer the only enemies from the army to be playable.


Spider Droids

The Spider Droids are a more uncommon enemy, but appear early. They move towards the player with a faster speed and attack them with their legs. They are pretty easy to kill with their average health, but due to their size and speed, can sneak up on the player very easily.

They are small, mechanical, spider-like robots with four legs and one red eye. The top of their body appears to be like a shell, and below their eye are two fang-like structures.

Trivia

  • They are the smallest enemies of the entire saga.
  • They are probably affiliated with the Security Droids.


Ranged New Borns

The Ranged New Borns are one of the early enemies. They walk slowly towards the player and launch rockets from a distance. The explosion of their rockets can do variable damage, depending on the explosion's distance from the player. However, they do not have a melee attack, and their rockets can be blocked by obstacles in the map.

They are taller and thinner New Borns with wires implanted on their body, as well as a rocket on their right shoulder, and a robotic left eye. They have strange growths on their body and have a small tentacle-like left arm.

Trivia

  • They are the only enemies from the entire saga to attack the player from a distance, excluding bosses and minibosses from Survival and the fights from the Campaign.
  • There is a bug where the player can deflect a rocket by running/jumping towards the rocket and send it back slowly or quickly depending on the speed of the impact. The rocket may explode on its own if it is left in the air for too long.


Phantom New Borns

The Phantom New Borns are an uncommon enemy with slightly more health than most enemies. They walk towards the player and have the ability to turn their body translucent and red for a short amount of time. They make a dark smoke effect when they use their ability, which can be useful for the player to locate them.

They are tall and very skinny New Borns with rough dark grey skin. They also have the area around their left eye covered in blood, and have sharp fingers.

Trivia

  • They are the only New Borns to have a different skin color.
    • They share this skin color with the Bull New Born.


Security Droids

The Security Droids are ones of the more resistant enemies. They slowly walk towards the player and swipe their blades at the player when close. After losing about half of their health, they start spinning their upper torso in a 360 degree motion with their blade hands outstretched, moving faster as they do. They have a rather high health compared to most enemies.

They are tall mechanical humanoid robots made up of gears and metal rods, with machetes for hands and a single orange eye.

Trivia

  • One of them is named Unit 437, who is encountered in the Campaign if the player choose to travel through the Teletubby Mountains.
    • This could mean that the Droids are named Unit ... and are able to talk.


Berserker New Borns

The Berserker New Borns are the most resistant enemies. They walks towards the player and starts to run when they are down to about half health. They have high health and do twice as much damage as other enemies, which makes them quite dangerous.

They are massive New Borns with huge claws and huge spikes on their back.

Trivia

  • Their behavior is similar to the Security Droids.
  • They deal more damage then mini-bosses (except the Mini-Announcer).


The Survival mode has also three mini-bosses that appears as the last enemy of a wave.

They act like bosses, chasing the player by walking or running, attacking them if close, teleporting occasionally, and using a special ability when the player is in range. However, they have significantly less health than bosses.

The Scorpion New Born (or Boss Runner) is the first mini-boss, appearing as the last enemy of Wave 04.

The Scorpion New Born has one special ability, in which it shoots several medium range flames at the player. The flames are relatively slow and are not affected by obstacles.

It is a big, pale light brown New Born wearing a jaw mask. It has an arachnid-like body with four legs ending in spikes and two big claws as hands.

Trivia

  • It may be somewhat related to the Runner New Borns, since they both wear jaw masks, and possibly be their leader.
  • Judging by it's arachnid-like appearance and it's fire special abilities, it may be in the same mutation path as Po.
  • It shares its special ability with the Arrow Tubbie.

The Mini-Announcer (a.k.a Boss Droid or Security Announcer) is the second mini-boss, appearing as the last enemy of Wave 06.

It has two special abilities:

  • Shoot out quick short ranged spark-like flames at the player, which ignores obstacles.
  • Summon lightning bolts that appear one by one in a line towards the player, dealing damage if they strike a player.

It is a large robot with a voice trumpet as a head and a thick body. It also has a hole in the middle of its body, with what appears to be a light glowing inside.

Trivia

  • It is the playable character of the Versus Mode in the Military Base.
    • This makes it and the Runner New Borns the only enemies from Survival to be playable.
    • In Survival, its melee attack used to be regular punches, but was changed to the "ground pound" originally used in Versus.
  • It is the only mini-boss to have two special abilities, with one being unique. Its melee attack also does slightly more damage.


Bull New Born

The Bull New Born (or Boss Berserker) is the third and last mini-boss, appearing as the last enemy of Wave 08.

It has the special ability to emerge a line of volcanic rocks from the ground towards the player, which deal damage to players that stand on them as they appear. After a short amount of time, the volcanic rocks will explode, dealing extra damage. Like other similar "trail" attacks, it is not restricted to the ground level it began at, and can hit players from higher up.

It is a massive New Born with rough dark grey skin. It has two horns on its head, the right one being broken, and huge spiked maces as hands. It also doesn't appear to have eyes, being hidden by the black skin on its forehead.

Trivia

  • It and Yeti Tubbie both have something other than an antenna on their head.
  • It shares its skin color with the Phantom New Borns.
  • Its special ability, that it now shares with Undead Po, is a weaker version of the Spiky Rock Trail, the former signature ability of the Brute Tubbies.


In each Survival game, there is a boss wave, which usually features the main threat of the map when the Collect or Versus mode is played. It takes place at the 10th Wave.

All bosses behave similarly, moving towards the player, occasionally speeding up to run at the player, teleporting at various times, and using special abilities when in range. Each of them have a very high health.
